Chinchillas are always excited by dust baths - they allow them to enjoy their instinctive behaviour of having regular romps in dust, as this is part of their natural grooming process. Dust bathing eliminates excess oil (especially if they like being handled by their hoomans!), dirt and moisture from their dense fur. 

In their natural habitat, chinchillas bathe as often as they like in the volcanic dust found in the Andes mountains. I recommend bathing every second day, however, daily is fine too, provided the skin, ears & feet aren't drying out.
